Serves: 8-10
Prep Time: 20 minutes
Total Time: 50 minutes

Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef (or ground turkey)
  • 1 packet taco seasoning
  • 2/3 cup water (for taco seasoning)
  • 1 (16 oz) can refried beans
  • 1 (8 oz) package cream cheese, softened
  • 1 cup sour cream (plus extra for spiderweb)
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup shredded Mexican blend cheese (or Colby Jack)
  • 1 cup diced tomatoes (drained)
  • 1 small can (2.25 oz) sliced black olives (about 1/2 cup, divided)
  • 2 green onions, sliced (optional, for garnish)
  • Tortilla chips, for serving

Directions

  1. In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef until no longer pink. Drain excess grease.
  2. Add the taco seasoning and 2/3 cup water. Stir and simmer for 3-5 minutes, or until the mixture thickens. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.
  3. In a medium bowl, mix the refried beans until smooth. Spread the beans evenly in the bottom of a 9-inch pie dish or similar serving dish.
  4. In another bowl, beat the softened cream cheese and sour cream until smooth. Spread over the bean layer.
  5. Top with the seasoned beef, then shredded cheeses, diced tomatoes, and most of the sliced olives (reserve a few for the spider).
  6. Create a spiderweb by piping sour cream in concentric circles, then gently dragging a toothpick from the center outward to form the web.
  7. Place a whole olive in the center for the spider’s body and use olive slices for the legs.
  8. Sprinkle with green onions if desired. Chill for at least 30 minutes before serving.
  9. Serve with tortilla chips and enjoy!
